Records don’t matter when Mustangs, Bulldogs meet
MARBLE FALLS — The similarities between the two programs are striking.
Both Burnet and Marble Falls football teams will line up in spread looks on offense and are led by senior quarterbacks who took their respective squads to the playoffs a year ago.
Both the Bulldogs (1-1) and Mustangs (2-0) rely on hard-hitting, punishing defenses designed to not only to humble the opponent but also break their spirits and wills to win.
Both squads have special teams they believe will play a role in the outcome of each game.
And even though Burnet enters this contest after a loss to Giddings and narrowly escaping Fredericksburg, Mustangs head coach Cord Woerner advises fans not to read too much into the record.
Rather, the 1984 graduate of Marble Falls High said records are the first things thrown out in any rivalry series.
