MARBLE FALLS — High school athletes are not the only ones preparing for the upcoming 2011 football season.

Currently, the Marble Falls Youth Football/Cheer is working on registration, a new division and a coaches clinic, according to president Michael Montoya.

The organization aims to have 18 to 24 players per team and at least two squads in each age group, Montoya said.

“We want as many kids to participate as possible,” he added.

The league includes flag football competition for ages 5-6. To be eligible, each athlete must turn 5 by Sept. 1. Cost is $85.

The other three age groups play tackle football. Freshmen include 7-and 8-year-old players,  the junior varsity includes 9-and 10-year-olds, and the varsity includes 11-and 12-year-olds. Cost is $120, which includes all the equipment except for cleats, practice jersey and pants.

The upcoming season will feature change, Montoya said.
