Homer Goodman Stogner III, 57, dies Sept. 23, 2014

Homer “Sonny” Goodman Stogner III, 57, passed away Sept. 23, 2014. He was born to Homer and Amy Stogner on Feb. 28, 1957, in Frankfurt, Germany.
He was originally from San Angelo, Texas, but spent the last 30 years in Stevens Point, Wis. He was the assistant pro at Stevens Point Country Club for more than 25 years.
Sonny proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy and was a talented guitar player, golfer and artist. He fought a courageous battle with cancer during the last two years.
Sonny’s family wishes to thank Seton Highland Lakes Hospital in Burnet, Breckenridge Hospital and Shivers Cancer Center of Austin and especially Dr. Om Pandy and Heather, his nurse at Shivers Cancer Center.
Sonny was preceded in death by his father, Homer Goodman Stogner Jr; mother, Amy Doris Stogner; and Janice Stogner, the mother of his daughters, Holly and Danielle.
He is survived by his children, Lynyrd Stogner of Dallas, Daniel Stogner of Austin, Danielle Stogner of Denver, Colo., and Holly Amber Stogner of Wausau, Wis.; sister, Libby Dooley of Sandy Harbor; brother, Dan Stogner and wife Cindy of Cottonwood Shores; six grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; his significant other of 12 years, Kathy Horachek Siverling; and Lynn Spear Valdez, the mother of his son Lynyrd.
A memorial service is Sept. 27 at First Baptist Church of Marble Falls.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Sonny’s memory to St. Jude Cancer Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
