Ethan Rogers, 37, of Bertram dies Sept. 17, 2014

Ethan Rogers went to be with God on Sept. 17, 2014, following a short but hard-fought battle against renal cell cancer. He entered this world on Jan. 14, 1977, in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was born to parents Jim and Drusilla Rogers and welcomed by a big brother, Gaeron.
He was blessed to be surrounded by these family members in his final moments.
Ethan was always full of curiosity, happy to bring in snakes, hatching snake eggs and orphaned birds, adopting cats and anything else he might find along the way. He always wanted to be a big brother and was sure to watch “Wednesday’s Child,” trying to find a little brother or sister for his mom and dad to adopt! He had a very soft spot for anyone or anything needing his help.
However, he was a very competitive athlete, from playing PeeWee football for the Bertram Panthers to proudly being a Burnet Bulldog! Football was his favorite sport with outside linebacker his favorite position. He was All-District in 1994-95 and 1995-96. He also lettered in basketball with a great 3-point shot, and he ran track.
He attended Sul Ross University in Alpine and Capital City Trade School in Austin to become a HVAC technician. He then started his electrician’s training. He found a home at LCRA/Buchanan Dam in 2002 with his most recent position as a senior electrician at Buchanan Dam. He appreciated his LCRA “family” as they were supportive and helpful during his illness.
Ethan made friends easily and was blessed with many friends all over the U.S. He had a ready, devilish smile together with sparkling blue eyes. And when he was cooking, it was game on! He had designed and built, along with help from his friends, a barbecue trailer with a full kitchen and sleeping quarters. He catered many parties, benefits, weddings and wine tastings. His brisket and ribs were the best! He truly had a passion for cooking and was quite creative in inventing new dishes, which his friends and family were happy to sample.
Ethan is survived by his daughter, Kinsley Rogers; parents, Jim and Drusilla Rogers; brother and sister-in-law, Gaeron and Charla Rogers; nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles; and many, many friends. He is in the hearts of so many and will never be gone or forgotten.
Honoring Ethan as pallbearers is a very special group of friends: Bryan Cokendolpher, Bryan Tarla, Bobby Rex, Todd Morris, Cody Lewis, Lann Brizendine, Zack Grisham, Scott Bolm and Blair Smith.
Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Sept. 18 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 306 Texas 29 East in Burnet, (512) 756-2222. A funeral service conducted by Ronnie Brooks and Jessie Crow is 4 p.m. Sept. 19 at Bertram Church of Christ. Burial will follow at Bear Creek Cemetery.
Words cannot express our heartfelt thanks to the many people who have reached out to our family during this time of sadness. Ethan needed your love, prayers and support during his fight, and we ask for your love, prayers and support now as we keep him in our hearts.
Flowers are appreciated as well as memorials for Ethan, which can be sent to R Bank, P.O. Box 1619, Bertram, TX 78605.
