OBITUARY: Bessie M. Houston, 81, dies June 6, 2014
Bessie M. “Betsy” Houston was born to Will Robinson and Ellie Estelle Ivy on March 28, 1933, and went to be with God on June 6, 2014.
She was raised in Gonzales, Texas, and was living in Austin, when she met and married Joel Houston. Betsy and Joel had more than 52 years at of happily married life.
She was a good mother to stepdaughter, Tonya, and son, Joel “Jay” Houston Jr, who was killed in an auto accident in 1996.
She will be remembered as a devoted and doting wife and mother. May she rest in God’s presence forever and forever.
A memorial service is 1 p.m. June 13 at Fellowship Baptist Church with Matt Homeyer officiating.
