OBITUARY: Sybil G. Thurmond, 93, of Kingsland dies June 6, 2014
Sybil G. Thurmond, 93, of Kingsland, Texas, passed away June 6, 2014. She was born to Archie B. and Lena Mae (Flyde) Graham in San Antonio on Nov. 20, 1920.
She was a military writer and claims clerk for USAA Insurance.
Sybil had been a member of First Baptist Church in Rockport and was attending Highland Lakes United Methodist Church in Buchanan Dam. She moved to Kingsland in 2000. She was driving through Kingsland on a vacation and loved this area and stayed.
She enjoyed RV’ing through Colorado and New Mexico. She was an avid reader and enjoyed needlepoint.
Survivors include Alice Thurmond Marshall of Marble Falls and Nancy Thurmond of Fort Worth. Nieces and nephews also survive.
Sybil was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Stephen A. Thurmond Jr.; and son, Jack.
A funeral service is 3 p.m. June 11 at Highland Lakes United Methodist Church in Buchanan Dam. A private burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park in San Antonio.
