AUSTIN — The Faith Academy football team clinched a playoff berth thanks to a 50-6 victory against the Texas School for the Deaf on Oct. 18.
The Flames (8-0, 2-0) remain undefeated in district play, which means if they win the district championship, they can host a playoff game when the postseason begins in November.
Two minutes into the contest, the Faith scoring began when junior running back Royale Brown ran it in from three yards out. The extra point was missed, but the Flames led 6-0.
Sophomore back Jacbo Metcalf ran in for a four-yard touchdown, but the two-point conversion failed.
Senior quarterback Austin Ellis added a four-yard run and the two-point conversion for a 20-0 lead.
Metcalf caught a 42-yard pass for a touchdown. Junior Hanner Shipley caught the two-point pass for a 28-0 halftime lead.
Metcalf started the second half with a 35-yard touchdown. Sophomore Johnathan Reyes added the extra point for 35-0 lead.
Brown caught a 36-yard touchdown, and senior Matt Manley hauled in the two-point pass.
Gavin Henderson picked up a fumble and ran it back 45 yards for a touchdown for a 50-0 lead in the third quarter.
The Rangers scored their only touchdown in the final three minute of the game.
Faith travels to San Antonio Hawkins at 6 p.m. Oct. 24 at Wheatley Heights Athletic Complex, 1032 Upland Road in San Antonio.
