The Marble Falls High School football team had its first official conditioning practice of the 2026 season as midnight struck on the night of Sunday, Aug. 2.

The Mustangs had been focusing on strength work, skill camps, and basic drilling over the summer. UIL rules make it clear that Texas 4A high school football conditioning practices could not begin until Aug. 3 in 2026, so the Mustangs took that seriously, and got on the field as the clock struck midnight for their first true conditioning session of the season.

“It was a great night,” Head Coach Keri Timmerman told DailyTrib.

For now, the team is in its acclimatization period, with no contact allowed, but full contact practice can begin on Saturday, Aug. 8.

The first scrimmage of the season is at home on Aug. 13 against Gatesville. The first regular season game is on Aug. 28 at home against Lockhart.
