GRANITE SHOALS — The date for third annual Vegas by the River fundraiser benefitting the Roddick Youth Tennis Foundation Tennis Center has been set for Nov. 23

It is 6:30 p.m. at Lakeside Pavilion, 307 Buena Vista in Marble Falls. The casino will open at 7 p.m.

Dave Holder, the Highland Lakes communication director of the Roddick Foundation, said the fundraiser was moved to a Saturday night with the aim of getting more people to attend.

The goal is to raise $18,000 to complete the two full-size tennis courts at the center, 2221 N. Phillips Ranch in Granite Shoals.

The courts will be open to the public and to the Marble Falls Independent School District for tournaments and an after-school program. Students at Highland Lakes Elementary School, which is located in Granite Shoals, have been using the quick courts for several years.

“We want to go ahead and build the rest of the courts,” Holder said.

One of the auction items is a one-week stay at the riverfront cabin of Blanche and Jerry Roddick, the parents of former U.S. Open champion Andy Roddick. The cabin is in Ruidoso, N.M.

The couple will attend the fundraiser, Holder said.

Two other silent auction items are a Chicago Bulls jersey signed by Michael Jordan and a tennis racket signed by Andy Roddick.

Tickets to the fundraiser are $100 each.

Volunteers and donations for the auction are needed.
