Alfred Earl Becker was born Jan. 25, 1929, to Walter Eugene Becker and Thelma Alice Cone in San Antonio, Texas. He was one of five children: Vivian, Eugene, Alfred, Elizabeth and Beverly.

He lived on Cottonwood Road in San Antonio in a house built by his father and shared with his grandmother Anna Amelia Henrietta Ripschlager Becker McClintock, who came to America from Magdaburg, Germany, in 1872.

In 1953, he married Marjorie Mae Leverett. Catherine was born later that year followed by Carolyn, Michael and then Mark in the Philippines.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Vivian; brother, Eugene; and granddaughter Rebecca.

Alfred served in the U.S. Air Force for 28 years, moving his family from Virginia to the Philippines and pit-stopping several times in San Antonio, the family’s home base.

He served two tours in Vietnam and a separate tour in Korea. He started his military career serving in Germany at the end of World War II. Alfred retired from the military and moved to the Marble Falls area in 1975. He worked at the Horseshoe Bay airport and later as a bus driver for the Marble Falls school district.

He was a man who enjoyed a good day’s work but his time with his family most. His children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his greatest pride.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marjorie; children, Catherine Miller and husband James, Carolyn Watts and husband Lamar, Michael Becker and wife Patricia and Mark Becker and wife Tracey; grandchildren Stephanie, Timothy, Amy, Nicole, Jessica, Benjamin, Charlie, Justin, Lane and Ryan; great-grandchildren, Cody, Ella, Emery,  Brice, Henry and Ben; sisters Elizabeth Markell and husband Lloyd and Beverly Leverett and husband Donald; and finally, many, many nieces and nephews.

Visitation is 5-7 p.m. June 14 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 1805 U.S. 281 North in Marble Falls, (830) 693-4373. A funeral service is 3 p.m. June 15 at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park. Pallbearers include Justin Becker, Ryan Becker, Mark Becker, Michael Becker, James Miller and Rick McQuaide. Honorary pallbearers are Don Buss, Bobby Boyles, Cody Kidd and Brice Becker.
