OBITUARY: Margaret Busby, 99, cherished family, was dedicated homemaker

Margaret Shaw Busby, 99, of San Angelo passed away peacefully in her sleep Feb. 7, 2013, at a local care center. She was born Aug. 7, 1913, in Waco to William Delbert and Mary Landis Cox Shaw.
A celebration of her life was Feb. 11 at Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home, 900 Industrial Blvd. in Kingsland, (325) 388-6767. A family visitation was held prior to the service. Burial followed at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park.
Margaret cherished her family and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. They were the most precious to her. Along with being a dedicated homemaker, she also served many years as president of the women’s division of the Texas Association of Tobacco and Candy Distributors. After her husband, L.W., retired from Ponca Wholesale and Mercantile Co., they retired to their home in the Texas Hill Country. In 2001, she moved to San Angelo to be closer to family, and there she resided until her death.
Margaret is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Leonard Wade Busby; parents, William and Mary Shaw; son in-law Maurice Charles Kernion; brothers D.W. Shaw Jr. and Russell Shaw; and infant twin daughters, Nancy and Patti Busby.
She is survived by daughter Patricia Busby Kernion of San Angelo; granddaughter, Amy Kernion Latham and husband Todd of San Angelo; grandson, Charles Allen Kernion and wife Traci of Coppell; great-grandchildren, Paul Johnson of Austin, Nathan Kernion and Summer Kernion, both of New Braunfels, Abby Kernion of Coppell, and Jesse Latham and Alley Latham, both of Austin; and many nieces and nephews.
