Burnet hires Dix as new city secretary
Dix started Nov. 3, filling the void left by former city secretary Christi Fath, who stepped down last month to work for Westlake.
Crista Bromley, the city’s director of economic development, filled in before Dix was hired.
“I decided to come here because I like the small-town atmosphere and I think Burnet is a growing community,” said Dix, the former executive secretary to the Copperas Cove city manager and also the city’s public information officer. “It’s smaller than Copperas Cove and the people are not quite as transient as I was used to.”
Dix lives in Lampasas County near Kempner with her husband Larry. They have three children and three grandchildren.
“Our children are grown now, so all options are open to us,” Dix said. “We have two children living in Round Rock and one in San Angelo with other relatives in the Hill Country, so we were used to traveling through Burnet all the time to visit our family.”
The family used to journey all over the planet, but now she and her husband are considering retiring in the area one day, finding a house on the lake.
Her main goal is to become involved in the community both personally and professionally, Dix told The Daily Tribune.
“I look forward to getting to know people here and becoming involved in a variety of endeavors,” she said.
