HIGHLAND LAKES – A holiday raffle sponsored by the Highland Lakes Service League is an an easy way to help bring Christmas cheer to many area children and teens, sponsors said.

It’s also a way to put yourself in the running to win either a decorated Christmas tree or a professionally decorated wreath.

Proceeds will benefit the Christmas Is For Kids program which purchases gifts for youngsters who might otherwise not receive presents.

The holiday raffle will feature a 9-foot tall spruce Christmas tree with lights, valued at $250, and donated by Jeff and Lara Ford, owners of the Marble Falls Ace Hardware, 1400 Ninth St.

League members are decorating the tree with ornaments following “An Old Fashioned Christmas” theme with ornaments primarily of red, green, white and gold.

“With the lights and decorations included, we estimate the value is more like $400-plus,” says Cheryl Aaron, league president.

A second drawing will be for a holiday wreath, valued at $150, and decorated with several types of greenery and accented in red and silver with snowmen figures.

The artificial wreath, donated by league members Connie Mitchell and Janie White, is about 2 feet in diameter and was decorated by professionals in a floral shop owned by Mitchell’s daughter.

Raffle tickets for the two drawings are available at Marble Falls Ace Hardware for $1 each or 6 for $5.
