Lady Pups finish second at Wimberley tournament

Team members include Brittany Barksdale, Sara Dickehut, Kaylyn Drake, Hanna Hazlewood, Mandee Harris, Mandi Cockrell, Hayli Copeland, Ryan Winkler, Landree Thompson, Jimena Lopez, Baylee Jones and Becca Davis.

The Lady Pups started out by dominating Miller Junior High in two games, coaches said. 

They went on to play Elgin. With Drake’s dependable power arm and great serving by Mandi Cockrell, coaches said the Lady Pups were unstoppable.  

In the final match against Navarro Junior High, Burnet was outscored in the first game but won the second game, 26-24, and were outscored in the third game.   

Brittany Barksdale made several excellent spikes, coaches said.  

The back row hit the floor to receive every serve that came over, coaches said. 

They added the tournament was exciting for the Lady Pups girls and even caused those who were trying to listen to the football game between the University of Texas and the University of Oklahoma to watch.
