Monster’s Ball promises spooky affair up at the lake
Billed as a “spooky affair,” the event is 10 a.m. Saturday to 1 a.m. Sunday at the Canyon of the Eagles Lodge, 16942 RR 2341 on the northeast rim of Lake Buchanan.
“This is a family-friendly, spooky and fun way to spend Halloween,” said General Manager Anna Long. “Wear your costume and bring the kiddos.”
Daytime events are free for children, but the Halloween-inspired dinner buffet and dance costs $19.95 per adult and $7.95 per child.
Costumes are encouraged.
According to staff, daytime programs begin at 10 a.m. with “Spiders & Snakes” with The Slithery Robert Lindsey. At 11 a.m. it’s “Kids’ Krafts with Dreadful Dinney” and at 2 p.m. monsters-in-training will learn to do “The Thriller Dance” in a special class.
Take a break and enjoy the scenery with the 7 p.m. start of Scary Stories with Tall, Dark & Spooky Dennis Gaines. Appetizers will be served with the purchase of a buffet ticket.
From 9-11 p.m. guests can enjoy The Monster’s Ball with dinner and dancing to the music of David Shehane.
Organizers said guests will dine on delectable Halloween menu items beginning with Barbecued Bat Wings (barbecued chicken wings), Witches Fingers (cheese sticks), Alien Tonsils (Brussels sprouts with cream sauce) and Baked Monsters Eyes (ground beef tarts).
Dinner includes Buggy Pasta (pastas and veggies), Baked Rat (meat loaf), Monsters Fingers & Toes with gravy (fried chicken), Mildewed Potatoes (mashed potatoes) and Moldy Pond Slime (broccoli and peas). Dessert is Worm Filled Dirt Pie (Oreo cookie and Gummy Worm pie).
Finish the evening with an outdoor showing of “Hocus Pocus” at 11 p.m. Bring a blanket and enjoy a spooky movie under the stars, planners said.
