Water tank planned for growing south Marble Falls development

A new elevated water storage tank is planned for the south side of Marble Falls as the Roper Ranch East development along U.S. 281 moves forward with plans for new homes and businesses.
Roper Ranch East is a large planned development that includes Flatrock Crossing, a 55-acre shopping center now under construction, as well as plans for residential and additional commercial development. According to Marble Falls Development Services, the residential portion of the project could include 555 single-family homes and hundreds more living units, like condos, townhomes, apartments, and other forms of alternative housing.
Marble Falls City Council recently approved two agreements on Aug. 4 to advance the water project.
One agreement provides up to $427,600 for engineering and design work by HR Green Inc., funded by the Flatrock Crossing Development through its own development agreement with the city. The other allows the city to accept property donated by Ellison Roper Land Corporation for the tank and grants the city a permanent easement over about 0.397 acres, giving the city the rights needed to access and maintain the facility.
According to Marble Falls City Engineer Jeff Prato, the project will help the city’s water system accommodate planned residential and commercial growth while increasing water storage, improving pressure and reliability, and providing additional water for firefighting.
The $130 million Flatrock Crossing is expected to open in fall 2027 and include about 330,000 square feet of retail space, with Academy Sports + Outdoors, Ulta Beauty, Boot Barn and Chipotle among the announced tenants.
