One dead in fatal Llano County crash

One person was killed in a multi-vehicle crash involving an 18-wheeler on the afternoon of Friday, July 24, in Llano County.

According to police scanner recordings and the Llano Police Department, a “major accident involving an 18-wheeler,” occurred on Friday near the intersection of Texas 71 and CR 303, just outside of the city of Llano.

One person was confirmed deceased in the crash, Llano Police Chief John Bauer told DailyTrib on Monday, July 27.

Immediately following the incident, LPD announced on Facebook that Texas 71 was closed as officers worked to clear the scene, and that traffic was being diverted.

“Eastbound traffic is being diverted at Llano Junior High… back toward the city and out to (Texas) 29 East or (Texas) 16 South,” reads the post. “Westbound traffic is being diverted at RR 2233… through Kingsland.”

The roadway was reportedly reopened at approximately 7:15 p.m. that day. No further information was available at the time of this article’s publication.
