Central Texas Electric Cooperative, which serves most of Llano County, is warning of possible power outages during the winter storm forecasted for Friday, Jan. 23, through Sunday, Jan. 25.

Current forecasts for the Highland Lakes area call for freezing rain, sleet and bitter cold, with temperatures dropping well below freezing and wind chills reaching the teens or lower.

According to CTEC, power outages and dangerous travel conditions are likely.

CTEC members are urged to prepare for potential outages and limited travel by charging electronic devices; gathering water and nonperishable foods; having warm clothing and blankets on hand; and planning for prolonged periods without power.

Visit CTEC’s website for updates on outages and more winter weather safety tips.

  1. The power grid is supposed to be much improved since the 2021 freeze or is that just for Austin and the rest of the state? Good luck getting water and supplies at HEB in Kingsland.
