Shirley Gay Morrison Wright, 87, of Marble Falls passed away June 20, 2025

Shirley Gay Morrison Wright, 87, of Marble Falls, Texas, passed away June 20, 2025, in Kingsland. She was born in Abilene on July 24, 1937, to Stella and F.F. Morrison.

She was married to Melvin Wright for 58 years, until his death in December 2020. Shirley worked in banking and insurance until retirement. She also worked with MHMR and was in the Burnet County Extension Club.

She is survived by her three children, Trisha Bode, Toni Mackey (Pat), and Marty Wright; seven grandchildren, Robert Bode (Tonya), Jerry Heflin (Marlinda), Jordon Heflin, Joesph Bode, Little Robert Mackey (Nicole), Cobylynn Sloan (Dustin), and Cutter Wright (girlfriend McKenzie); seven great-grandchildren, Bryce, Michael, Bri, Spencer, Zack, Samuel, Dalton; her best friend of 80 years, Paula Roberts; and nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by husband Melvin Wright, two sons-in-law, her parents, two brothers, two sisters, and her best friend’s two sisters, Beth and Nelda.

Beth, Nelda, and Paula were Shirley’s traveling buddies. They went to Europe and Alaska and always had a story to tell when they would get home. She loved to read and liked maps—any kind of map; she would have it hanging on the wall. She always had a story to tell and was a big fan of Elvis.

A memorial service is July 19, 2025, at the Cottonwood Shores Civic Center, 4111 Cottonwood Drive. Donations in her name may be made to your favorite charity.
