The Marble Falls Public Library hosts its second annual Local Author Book Fair on May 8 from 2-4 p.m. The event features 30 Texas authors spanning several genres and a pop-up stand from Numinous Coffee of Marble Falls.
Held indoors at the library, 101 Main St., the Thursday event will include 15 booths with two authors per table ready to sign copies of their books, which will be available for purchase.
“This event was born out of a need we saw from the community,” Marble Falls Library’s Lauren Banks told DailyTrib.com. “Library staff often were approached by authors donating their books to the library, and asking about opportunities to share their work with the community.”
The fair includes authors from across Texas and locally, including Marble Falls, Horseshoe Bay, Georgetown, Austin, and Victoria.
Banks said “local” applies broadly to any author living in the state.
“There is so much talent located right here in Central Texas,” she said. “Authors with books they poured themselves into do not always get an opportunity to get those books into the hands of readers. This fair connects them face to face with book lovers to share their passions with.”
Following a strong turnout at last year’s book fair, interest from authors grew. Banks said all applicants were accepted again, though future fairs may need a selection process as submissions increase.
She added that the event has inspired readers and writers of all ages.
“Kids, teens, and adults who are interested in writing or illustrating books of their own light up with inspiration when talking with authors and realizing that they, too, can write that story they always wanted to,” Banks said.
Numinous Coffee will be on site during the fair, offering literary-themed drinks and fresh-baked cookies created just for the event.
“We hope book lovers will come from wide and far to celebrate with us,” Banks said, “and to enjoy the delicious cookies and drinks from Numinous Coffee.”
