Root around at Hill Country Lawn and Garden Show

The Hill Country Lawn and Garden Show returns for its 25th year Saturday, March 29, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Burnet County Extension Service AgriLife building, 607 N. Vanderveer St. in Burnet. Admission is free.

The Highland Lakes Master Gardener Association event draws dozens of vendors and gardening enthusiasts from across the region. Visitors can shop for native plants, vegetables, perennials, succulents, garden tools, landscaping materials, and more and listen to home and garden experts talk about topics such as xeriscaping, beekeeping, native trees, and wicking tubs, a water-saving container gardening method gaining popularity in Central Texas.

“We’re celebrating 25 years. We have a great group of vendors. … We’ve got speakers and giveaways and lots of plants,” said Master Gardener Roxanne Dunegan in a KBEY 103.9 FM Radio Picayune interview with host Mac McClennahan on March 24.

Inside and outside of the AgriLife building, nearly 40 vendors will be set up selling a variety of garden goods. Covered walkways ensure the event remains accessible regardless of the weather. The show also includes a silent auction, a raffle for a queen-size quilt made and donated by local quilters, and a concession stand serving taco salad, nachos, and cinnamon rolls. Master Gardeners will be on hand to answer gardening questions and offer guidance on upcoming certification classes.

Parking is available in lots near the AgriLife building.
