Cooper DeSpain Memorial donates $10K to resource center

The Burnet County Community Resource Center received a $10,000 donation from the Cooper DeSpain Memorial, raised from its annual sporting clay fundraiser, Shoot for Coop.
The Cooper DeSpain Memorial was created in 2015 by the parents of Cooper, who was killed in an ATV accident at 9 years old the previous year. Shoot for Coop is the primary way the charity raises money for scholarships, and now support for altruistic community causes. This year’s fundraiser is May 31.
“We know Cooper would want to reach out and help the less fortunate,” said memorial board member Leslie Pilley in a media release. “This donation is one way we can carry his spirit forward, ensuring people in our community get the assistance they need.”
The Burnet County Community Resource Center, 1016 Broadway in Marble Falls, is a nonprofit organization that provides a wide range of support for residents, including transportation for the elderly, affordable housing guidance, mental health services, and employment resources. It is the home office for the Community Resource Centers of Texas, which has other locations in Kingsland (Llano County) and Johnson City (Blanco County).
“We are incredibly grateful to Shoot for Coop for recognizing the needs within our community and stepping up to help,” wrote Burnet County CRC navigator Trish Walker. “This donation will allow us to provide much-needed assistance, particularly in ensuring that our elderly residents can access transportation to critical medical care.”
