Texans must be registered by Tuesday, Oct. 10, to vote in the Nov. 7 elections. On the ballot are 14 state constitutional amendments as well as several Highland Lakes races and a multi-million-dollar bond. Early voting is Oct. 23-Nov. 3.

ELECTIONS

The bulk of the fall ballots are 14 proposed changes to the Texas Constitution, which can be found on the Burnet County and Llano County election websites. 

Horseshoe Bay voters will decide on a new mayor as well as two council seats. A candidate forum is Wednesday, Oct. 11.

Burnet County Emergency Services District No. 3 is holding a special election on the adoption of a 2 percent local sales and use tax. 

The city of Meadowlakes is holding a bond election on Proposition A, which proposes the issuance of a $7.5 million bond to renovate the city’s golf course and related facilities as well as improve city utilities. 

REGISTER

Unregistered Texans wanting to vote in the Nov. 7 election must fill out an application and turn it in to their county election office by Tuesday. The application form may be filled out online and printed, or a paper application can be printed and filled out. Find directions, requirements, and applications at VoteTexas.gov.

  1. Found information on the Burnet County ESD No.3 website that says they can levy up to 10 cents per $100 valuation on property. It says nothing about their capability to levy sales and use taxes. Incorporated cities can levy up to 2 percent in sales and use taxes, which can be divided amongst various public services. I don’t know how the ESD can do this. Can anyone explain it?
