Marble Falls Public Works crews are resurfacing portions of seven city streets during the week of June 26. Roads will remain open while work is done from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“This is part of the maintenance plan to prolong and improve the city streets for the city of Marble Falls,” said Public Works Director James Kennedy.

Workers will chip seal the roads rather than completely restructure them.

“We’re doing our best to save the taxpayers money,” Kennedy said. “By doing what we’re doing, it’s actually pennies on the dollar compared to a total reconstruction.”

Chip sealing is usually reserved for rural roads with low traffic. The process includes one or more layers of asphalt with one or more layers of fine aggregate. Chip-sealed surfaces can take up to two days to properly cure.

“We’re trying to make for a smoother ride-ability on the roads,” Kennedy told the Marble Falls City Council during a regular meeting on June 6. “Not so people can speed, but a much smoother ride.”

Drivers are asked to proceed with caution while crews are at work. Parking is not allowed on streets during resurfacing.

Streets scheduled to be resurfaced are:

MONDAY, JUNE 26

  • Fourth Street from Avenue E to Crestview
  • Avenue D from Second Street to Third Street
  • Fifth Street from Avenue E to Avenue G

TUESDAY, JUNE 27

  • Sixth Street from Avenue E to East Avenue

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 28

  • Via Vejo

THURSDAY, JUNE 29

  • Center Street
  • Circle Drive
