Phoenix Center walk-in mental health clinic for kids opens April 18
The Phoenix Center plans to open a walk-in mental health clinic on April 18 at its new, 8,000-square-foot Horseshoe Bay facility, 3340 Texas 71. The clinic will serve children up to age 17 and their parents and guardians.
Counselors will help clients tackle issues such as anxiety, depression, stress, challenging behaviors, and more in 50-minute sessions. The new clinic will not provide psychiatric assessments, psychiatric emergency services, follow-up psychiatric care, or access to medications.
Clinic hours will be 3-6 p.m on Tuesdays only. Patients are asked to arrive starting at 3 p.m. and no later than 4 p.m. for intake. The clinic will be open until 6 p.m.
As with all services the Phoenix Center offers, clinic care will be free.
“We are looking forward to opening our walk-in clinic to help meet the growing need for mental health care for local children and families,” said Phoenix Center CEO and founder Sarah Rosen Garrett.
The mental health care organization’s new facility, which opened in November 2022, will give walk-in clinic counselors and patients the space needed to accommodate care.
Founded in 2007, the Phoenix Center provides trauma-informed counseling and mental health care to Highland Lakes children and their families. In 2022 alone, the nonprofit reported serving 1,297 children and families.
