The Hill Country Community Band of Marble Falls is searching for new members to join its concert band comprised of volunteer musicians from Burnet and Llano counties.
The roughly 30-member band accepts players of all ages and skill levels.
“Our members come from all walks of life and all experience levels,” said Hill Country Community Band President Bern Myers. “Some are advanced players, like our retired band directors, and some are still learning or have just rediscovered their love of music after not playing for years, even decades.”
The group plays different styles of music as well as marches, medleys, and holiday tunes during several performances throughout the year.
Currently, the band is hoping to attract more woodwind, brass, and percussion musicians. Members pay zero dues and there is no expectation of commitment.
Rehearsals for the concert band are held on Thursdays from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Marble Falls Senior Activity Center, 618 Avenue L.
Myers encourages prospective members to attend a rehearsal to gauge their interest.
“Just swing by — we’re informal,” he said. “Take a listen and see if you’d like to join.”
