Zonia May Key Bauman, 96, passed away Jan. 12, 2021

Zonia Mae Key Bauman was born on April 29, 1924, in Tow, Texas, to Zella Mae (Maxell) and Lyte Key. She passed away Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2021, in Burnet County, Texas, at the age of 96. 

As a child, she attended school in Tow. She married Charles Wilford Bauman Sr. on Nov. 16, 1940, in Llano County, Texas. She later attended LVN school, where she received her LVN license. She worked at Llano Memorial Hospital for 18 years, assisting in all departments, including helping with the delivery of some of her own grandchildren. 

Zonia Mae loved her family very much and said many times how proud she was of her “good-lookin’” family. She was also a member of the Church of Christ.

She is survived by her sons, Charlie Bauman and wife Ada of Llano and Jay Bauman and wife Dollie of Kingsland; daughters Kay Eckhardt and husband Charlie of Fredericksburg and Cheri Rogers and husband Larry of Llano; grandchildren Jimmy Robert, Monty Roberts, Kayla Sanchez, Sheree Burrow, Darren Eckhardt, Neda Bauman, Craig Bauman, Samantha Soto, Melanie Harrison, Cristy Vaught, Stacy Gann, and Corey Mae Rogers; 30 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles W. Bauman Sr.; her parents, Lyte and Zella Key; daughter Nila LaFaye Bauman Roberts; granddaughter Lori Arlene Roberts Baker; great-great-granddaughter Kynliegh Groce; sisters, Nora Milliorn, Eva Walton, and Norma Hallmark; and brothers, Wilton Key and Lytle Key. 

A graveside service is 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 15, at Llano City Cemetery with Dennis Raesener officiating. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Robert, Monty Roberts, Kayla Sanchez, Sheree Burrow, Darren Eckhardt, Neda Bauman, Craig Bauman, Samantha Soto, Melanie Harrison, Cristy Vaught, Stacy Gann, and Corey Mae Rogers.
