Filing has begun for school board elections

Filing period open for school board elections

Highland Lakes residents interested in serving on their local school board have until 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12, to file to be on the May 1 ballot. Each school district has filing packets available for eligible residents within their boundaries. Staff photo by Daniel Clifton

The filing periods have begun for Burnet, Llano, and Marble Falls school district boards of trustees. Elections are May 1. Trustees serve three-year terms.

A person must live within the school district boundary for the board on which they wish to serve. Other eligibility requirements can be found in the school district’s application packet.

The filing period began Wednesday, Jan. 13, and ends at 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12.

Here is filing information for each school board:

Burnet Consolidated Independent School District

BCISD has three spots on the ballot: places 2, 4, and 6. Currently, Angela Moore is the Place 2 board member, Ross Behrens is Place 4, and Robby Robertson is Place 6.

Application packets may be picked up at the BCISD Central Office, 208 E. Brier St. in Burnet, or downloaded on the district’s website. Applications must be returned to the Central Office during the filing period.

Office hours are 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday, except for Friday, Feb. 12, when the office will be open until 5 p.m.

Llano ISD

LISD has two spots on the ballot: places 1 and 5. Currently, Rob Wilson is the Place 1 board member and Dean Campbell is Place 5.

Application packets may be picked up at the LISD Administrative Office, 1400 Oatman Drive, Llano, TX 78643, or downloaded on the district’s website. Applications may be returned in person or by mail to the above address, emailed to kdowney@llanoisd.org, or faxed to 325-247-5623.

Office hours are 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday, except for Friday, Feb. 12, when the office will be open until 5 p.m.

Marble Falls ISD

MFISD has three spots on the ballot: places 5, 6, and 7. Currently, Alex Payson is the Place 5 board member, Kevin Naumann is Place 6, and Kevin Virdell is Place 7.

Application packets may be picked up at the MFISD Administration Building, 1800 Colt Circle in Marble Falls, during regular business hours or by contacting Administrative Assistant Julie Shaffer at jshaffer@mfisd.txed.net or 830-693-4357 to have a packet mailed or emailed.

Office hours are 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday, except on Feb. 12, when the office will be open until 5 p.m.
