Robert Wayne Maxey, 78, of Buchanan Dam, Texas, passed away surrounded by his family on Thursday, February 27, 2020.
Wayne was born in Lampasas on July 7, 1941, to Brooken and Mabel Maxey. He attended Llano High School and served in the United States Navy from 1960 to 1964.
Wayne worked for over 34 years in the petrochemical industry with the last 20 of those years as an inspector at Enterprise Products.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, growing tomatoes, and feeding all the hummingbirds that stopped by the house. His specialties included making deer chili during the holidays and “slap your mama” barbecue during family get-togethers.
Wayne was preceded in death by his first wife, Candace Reed Maxey, and survived by his second wife, Donna Maxey. He has two daughters and one son: Gina Beenau, Anthony Maxey, and Darla Strahan and husband Scott Strahan. He is also survived by his brothers, Ray Maxey, Bobby Bumpas, and Dee Bumpas, and sister, Annie Marie Smith.
Wayne has five amazing grandchildren: Shayne Beenau, Trystan Link and husband Hayden Link, Cameron Maxey, Troy Beenau, and Bryndan Strahan.
Viewing was March 1 at Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Chapel. A funeral service is 2 p.m. Monday, March 2, at the funeral home, 307 E. Sandstone in Llano, 325-247-4300. A graveside service will follow.
