FROM STAFF REPORTS

Wear the gear, operate the apparatus, and use the equipment Marble Falls Fire Rescue firefighters use as one of the first participants in the Citizens Fire Academy.

The department is holding its first-ever academy for people 18 and older who live or work in the city of Marble Falls this June. The academy is limited to the first 20 applicants.

Classes are every Wednesday in June starting June 5, from 6-9 p.m. The final class is Saturday, June 29, from 8 a.m.-2 p.m.

Fill out the application online or call Marble Falls Fire Rescue at (830) 693-4060.

The academy is not a fire certification class, but it does offer participants the chance to learn firsthand about the job.

The Citizens Fire Academy includes lessons on the history of the fire service and where fire codes originated and the chance to wear protective gear, operate fire apparatus, and use the equipment.
