Waste Management takes over trash duties in several towns

Waste Management of Texas Inc. acquired Republic Services Inc. on Dec. 1, including municipal contracts and the operation of the Burnet County transfer station.

Service and rates for area customers should not be affected.

The acquisition means that, this week, Waste Management began running the routes in Marble Falls, Meadowlakes, Granite Shoals, Horseshoe Bay, Cottonwood Shores, and for individual customers in unincorporated communities such as Kingsland.

Waste Management will contact individual customers via email or mail to notify them of the acquisition.

A media release from Waste Management said “normal operational activities” will continue in the weeks ahead during the integration process.

“We are excited to add new employees to our team while continuing to provide exceptional service to our customers,” said Don Smith, president of Waste Management of Texas.
