His Hands Ministry, part of Weakday Ministries, is seeking sponsors to clothe 15 children during the cold part of the year. The primary need is winter clothing, including undergarments, outerwear, and footwear. Most sponsors spend $100-$125.

Sponsors will receive a piece of paper with the gender, age, and sizes of the child. Interested people should contact Weakday Ministries at weakdayoffice@gmail.com or (512) 588-9479.

Weakday volunteers can shop for the children if people would rather make a financial donation, said the Rev. Donna Shaw, founder of Weakday Ministries.

“These children don’t have weather-appropriate clothing,” she said. “This clothing carries them to the spring.”

Weakday Ministries works with Burnet Consolidated Independent School District employees, who gather the data on each child to give to Weakday, Shaw said.

Officials are asking that people bring the clothing to the Weakday office, 312 S. Main St. in Burnet, at the latest from 9 a.m.-noon Thursday-Friday, Nov. 29-30.

Burnet CISD officials turned in the names of more than 50 children who need a little help to Weakday Ministries.

Shaw said she knows money is scarce because so many in the Highland Lakes are dealing with the aftermath of the Oct. 16 flood.

“I know the needs are great because of the flood,” Shaw said. “But the needs of these children are also great.”

Checks should be made out to Weakday Ministries, and the memo should include His Hands Ministry so Weakday officials will know where the money should be spent.
