Elmer HittElmer “Sonny” Hitt went to be with his Lord on Jan. 6, 2018. He was born March 4, 1933, in Post, Texas, to Gladys Elliott and Elmer Lee Hitt.

He graduated from Southland High School and married his high school sweetheart, Novella Nixon. She passed away in October 1997. He married Wanda McCain on June 18, 1998, in Paris, Texas.

Sonny was an electrician for most of his life. He loved spending time with his family playing guitars and making music.

Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Novella, sister Betty Scott, and great- grandchildren Bryson Powe and Maisy Hitt.

Sonny is survived by his wife, Wanda of Tow; sons, Bobby Hitt and Anne Clanton of White River, Terry Hitt and wife Freda of Ralls, Jay Hitt and wife Dawn of Weatherford, and Bryan Jordan and wife Deanna of Tow; daughters, Judy Beydler and husband Richard of Burleson, Debby Agnew and husband Dwayne of Round Rock, Jimmie Faulkner and husband Jim of Tow, and Stephanie Hallmark and Frank Wooten of Lone Grove; sister Hope Travis of Austin; and brother, Jerry Hitt of Dallas. Sonny also left behind 24 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service is 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9, at First Baptist Church of Tow.

    Our prayers are with you, grateful because we know the Lord is constantly strengthening and comforting you all.

    We too, will fly away, and rejoice with Sonny, singing praises to Jesus together.
