MFISD accepting nominations for Legacy Outstanding Graduate

JENNIFER FIERRO • STAFF WRITER

MARBLE FALLS — Preparations are being made to choose the next Legacy Outstanding Graduate Award recipient from the Marble Falls Independent School District.

The criteria includes an individual:

  • who is 10 years past graduation
  • is actively involved in their community
  • achieved extraordinary career status within their field
  • and made notable contributions on a local, regional, state or national level.

The award has been given five times already. The deadline for nominations is April 15.

MFISD Superintendent Chris Allen said honoring a graduate is tremendous for many reasons.

Top of the list is that Marble Falls has had many talented and gifted people who have earned diplomas and are contributing to make society better.

“We can stop and celebrate that fact that people who have gone through our system, we may have been a part of the experience that have helped them grow to achieve,” he said.

Another reason is that honoring a past graduate gives current students something to aim for, the superintendent added.

“It gives them a standard to our vision, if we can,” he said. “It’s good to hold someone up and say, ‘See, this is what you can become.’”

The recipient will receive the award during the annual Legacy Honor’s Banquet on May 20.

Nomination forms are at marblefallsisd.org or by calling Krystal Dunk, assistant to the superintendent, at (830) 693-4357.
