Rockin’ the Vineyard in Spicewood dishes out dinner, Duck Soup and scholarships

SPICEWOOD — Even a game of chance can have lasting effects for six area high school graduates.

The Spicewood Arts Society’s fifth annual Rockin’ the Vineyard is 6-10 p.m. Feb. 20.

One of the popular activities at the event is a heads-or-tails game. For $10, a person calls heads or tails as a coin is tossed. Whoever wins the last coin flip receives a gift basket of liquor valued at $200.

The event helps fund scholarships for graduating seniors at Marble Falls and Lake Travis high schools. Each school receives three scholarships at $1,500 each. Courtney Runn, a 2013 Lake Travis graduate, will address attendees.

Rockin’ the Vineyard will be held at the Spicewood Vineyard Event Center, 1419 CR 409. The cost is $75 per person, and ticket sales are going well, said Wanda Rosello, the community outreach chairwoman for the Spicewood Arts Society.

“They do look forward to it,” she said of those attending. “We always try to get the best band. We always try to get the best food.”

A buffet dinner catered by Buenos Aires Cafe will be served at 6 p.m. Then at 7 p.m., Duck Soup will perform songs from the 1950s through the 1980s. A silent auction is 6-8:30 p.m.

Go to www.spicewoodarts.org or call (512) 264-2820 to purchase tickets or for more information.

“We appreciate the support of the community in all our endeavors,” Rosello said, “and how well we feel supported by the community.”
