Mary SilvaMary Silva, a longtime resident of the Burnet area, was called to her heavenly Father on Jan. 7, 2015. She was born in 1932 to Esteban and Guadalupe R. Campos.

Mary was always a familiar face at Miller’s Food Market, where she worked as a cook for 27 years. There, she was affectionately known as “Mama Mary” and formed many close ties with her loyal customers. Once you had her as a friend, she was always on your side.

Her greatest achievement was her family, of which she was very proud. Mary was a devoted mother and “Granny” to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed spending time with her family and would spend many hours preparing her famous dishes to share at family get-togethers. As the matriarch, her key objective was to have a united and loving family, in which she was successful.

Mary was preceded in death by an infant daughter Guadalupe Garcia; parents, Esteban and Guadalupe Campos; and brothers, Santos Campos and Esteban Campos Jr.

Mary is survived by her children Albino Garcia and wife Juanita, Arturo Garcia and wife Kathy, Olga Gonzales and husband Mike and Mary Miller and husband Bob; grandchildren, Maria and J.J. Gonzales, Juanita Escamilla, Guadalupe Garcia, Arturo Garcia Jr. and Juan Cruz Garcia and fiancé Jovana Lemus; great-grandchildren, Esteban Cade Escamilla, Avery Escamilla, Jaxon Gonzales, Grady Gonzales and Mia Estrada (estimated arrival date of March 19); sisters, Dominga Salinas and Juanita Campos; and many relatives and friends.

A Rosary will be recited 7 p.m. Jan. 12 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 306 Texas 29 East in Burnet, (512) 756-2222. A funeral service is 10 a.m. Jan. 13 at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church in Burnet. Interment will follow at Post Mountain Cemetery.
