MARBLE FALLS — Nineteen anglers participated in the Christmas tournament at Lake Marble Falls conducted by the local high school fishing club Dec. 13.
Every two-person team had one fish. The tournament had a three-fish limit, which was a big challenge for the anglers, club sponsor Craig Orton said.
“This means at no time can the two anglers have more than a total of three fish on their boat at any time,” he said. “If they catch a fourth or fifth fish, they will replace that fish with the smallest fish in the live well. Each bass must measure 14 inches or longer.”
In all, 25 fish were weighed, Orton said.
“It is exciting for the entire club when every angler is experiencing some success,” he said. “Most of the anglers caught many fish. In fact, several of the anglers said they caught over 15 fish, several of which were ‘keepers.’ Many of which were just an inch or less short of the required 14 inches.”
Jarrett Robertson (left) and Chase Maddox had three fish totaling 8.3 pounds, which was good enough for second place in the Christmas tournament conducted by the fishing club at Marble Falls High School.

RESULTS: 1, Craig Dodson and Colby Orton, 10.92 pounds; 2, Chase Maddox and Jarrett Robertson, 8.3 pounds; 3, Brandon Duggins and Kevin Duggins, 6.96 pounds. BIG BASS – Dodson, 4.9 pounds
QUOTABLE: “The weather was very nice as the boats pulled out around 7 a.m. It was overcast the entire day, and the temperature was very comfortable. Usually, the winter months can make for some cold days, so the anglers were very fortunate to have the weather be so welcoming,” club sponsor Craig Orton said.
