FROM STAFF REPORTS

MARBLE FALLS — While the annual Highland Lakes Family Crisis Center Golf Tournament and Silent Auction is still a few weeks away, organizers are looking for golfers and sponsors to help the people who walk through the center’s doors each month.

“We see more than 350 individuals for various services, ranging from counseling to emergency shelter,” said Alma Lahmon, the center’s executive director. “Numerous families from Burnet, Llano, Blanco and Lampasas counties need our free and confidential services to help them succeed living a violence-free life.”

The golf tournament is scheduled for Oct. 25 at Delaware Springs Golf Course, 600 Delaware Springs Blvd. in Burnet, with a 1 p.m. shotgun start. The tournament raises money for the crisis center, which provides services for survivors of domestic violence, dating violence and sexual assault.

The entry fee is $65 per golfer and includes greens fee, a cart, refreshments and a hamburger dinner. The deadline to register is Oct. 17, and the tournament is limited to the first 144 players.

Along with golfers, organizers are looking for tournament sponsors. Sponsorships are available on four levels: platinum ($1,500 donation, which allows for eight golfers); gold ($1,000 donation, which allows for four golfers); silver ($500 donation, which allows for two golfers); and bronze ($250 donation, which allows for one golfer.)

Each sponsor will receive recognition on golf course signage and in the local media during and after the tournament.

“Community’s support is paramount to aiding the crisis center fulfill its objectives of providing aid and assistance to countless children, women and men by providing them with security and healing” said Phillip Lee, the director of the tournament. “Sponsoring and playing in this tournament is a great way to show your support and have a great afternoon on the links at the same time.”
