OBITUARY: Dorothy Murchison, 76, of Buchanan Dam dies July 7, 2014
Dorothy “Dot” Murchison of Buchanan Dam passed away peacefully July 7, 2014, at the age of 76. She was born June 26, 1938, to Roland and Grace (Isenberger) Campbell in Llano, Texas.
Dot married Donald Murchison on Sept. 7, 1957, in Leander, Texas.
She was a resident of Buchanan Dam most of her life. She attended Pittsburg Avenue Baptist Church, was a member of the Llano Women’s Culture Club and also volunteered at the Llano Hospital. She was a special-education aide for the Burnet school system for 10 years.
For many years, she coordinated the fair and rodeo catalog for the Burnet County Fair and Rodeo Association.
Dot was preceded in death by her parents; sister Mary Evelyn Harned; and brother Roland Campbell Jr.
Survivors include husband, Donald Murchison of Buchanan Dam; son, Donald Mark Murchison and wife Jeannie of Buchanan Dam; daughter, Kathy Diane Murchison of San Antonio; brothers Eddie Campbell of San Saba and Larry Campbell of Buchanan Dam; sisters Margaret Austin of Seadrift and Shirley Amthor of Brownwood; grandson, Keenan Donald Murchison; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Keenan Murchison, Darrell Harned, Stephen Harned, Stephen Campbell, Bob Austin and Grant Barkey.
Visitation is 5-7 p.m. July 9 at Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home, 307 E. Sandstone in Llano, (325) 247-4300. A funeral service is 2 p.m. July 10 at the funeral home with the Rev. Danny Meegan officiating. Burial will follow at Murchison Cemetery in Buchanan Dam.
