Marble Falls midfielder Erik Salgado named to all-region first team in soccer

FROM STAFF REPORTS

MARBLE FALLS — Marble Falls High School junior midfielder Erik Salgado was named to the Class 4A Region IV first team April 26.

“This award makes him the most decorated soccer player ever from Marble Falls High School,” head coach Rick Hoover said. “The best news of all is that he is only a junior, and we get him back next year.”

This season, Salgado led the Mustangs to the third round of the Class 4A playoffs, the program’s best finish in history. He scored two of the team’s three goals in the postseason.

Marble Falls finished third in District 51-4A and defeated Leander Rouse, the district champion, both times the two squads met to hand the Raiders their only losses in division play.

But the Mustangs’ season ended in a 1-0 loss to the Raiders in double overtime April 3.
