Burnet Farmers’ Market returns to square with local goods May 3

FROM STAFF REPORTS

BURNET — Get ready to get pick up some fresh fruit and vegetables as the Burnet Farmers’ Market sponsored by the Highland Lakes Master Gardener Association returns May 3 to Burnet’s courthouse square.

The market is 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturdays through November. People can pick up seasonal produce, bedding plants and organic vegetables. But you’ll also find some hand-made crafts and unique items you can’t find anywhere else.

Some of the produce will be things you won’t likely find in the local grocery store. Plus, it’s all grown within an easy driving distance, so you know it’s fresh and hasn’t spent days or weeks in the back of trucks or storage facilities.

One of the great things about the Burnet Farmers’ Market is it’s always changing. As the growing season changes, so does the types of produce farmers bring to the market.

So it’s always good to come back week after week to find the latest selections and varieties.

On the third Saturday of the month, there will be gardening demonstrations.

Along with customers, the Highland Lakes Master Gardener Association is looking for vendors who want to set up a booth during the farmers’ market. Call Bob Carothers at (512) 793-6958 or go to www.burnetcountyhighlandlakesmastergardener.org for vendor or general information.
