AUSTIN — The Marble Falls High School track-and-field teams are performing the way they were projected to at the District 25-26-4A area meet April 16.
The Mustangs arrived to the meet with the top four marks in most of their events.
“We’ve done well,” Marble Falls head coach Kyle Futrell said.
The day started with senior Jordan Wright capturing gold in the 3,200 meters in 9 minutes 40.31 seconds.
“Jordan won easily,” Futrell said.
Hanner Shipley took over at the shot put ring, throwing a mark of 46 feet 10½ inches for a new personal best and third place in the competition.
“Hanner was second right up until the end,” the coach said.
Ryan Becker and Shipley teamed up to finish second and third in the discus with each setting a new personal record.
Teagan Hall took silver in the discus with a new personal best of 117-11.
Natalie Schulz added another silver for the Lady Mustangs in the triple jump with a leap of 35-5. Schulz and Lauren Loader went second and third in the long jump with marks of 17-1½ and 16-10½, respectively.
Schulz led until the final jump. Meanwhile, Loader was consistent, Futrell said, with four consecutive marks of 16-8 or better.
“That relaxes you and helps you,” he said.
Loader and Kaitlyn Rhodes were third and fourth in the high jump with flops of 5-0 and 4-10.
