MARBLE FALLS — Marble Falls High School offensive coordinator Bill Poe was named the new head coach at Northwest High School in the Dallas-Fort Worth area April 14.

Poe’s first day is April 15.

“I’m very happy and proud for him,” Marble Falls athletic director and head football coach Todd Dodge said.

Poe was at Marble Falls for two years and was one of the first members of Dodge’s staff.

During that time, Poe coached the wide receivers, including Garrett Gray, who signed a letter of intent to play for the University of Texas.

In two years, Poe helped Gray, who quit football during the 2011-2012 school year, catch 158 passes for 2,442 yards and 32 touchdowns. In addition Gray also had 16 rushes for 95 yards and two touchdowns.

Before Poe came to Marble Falls, he was the head coach at Longview Spring Hill.

The relationship of Dodge and Poe dates to when Dodge was an assistant coach at McKinney High School from 1988 to 1992. Dodge was the quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator and tutored a young Bill Poe. The head coach was Poe’s father, Ron.
