“We hit the ball right at them,” Burnet head coach Steven Shipley said. “It was one of those nights where we needed one or two more things to go our way, and they didn’t.”

BURNET — The Burnet High School softball team lost 7-0 to Brownwood in a District 8-3A game April 4.

The Lady Lions (4-2 district) scored a run in the fourth inning and six runs in the fifth. In all, they recorded 10 hits and an error in the win. Meanwhile, the Lady Dawgs (14-8 overall, 2-4 district) committed three errors.

“It was a combination of it all,” Burnet head coach Corey Bledsoe said. “A couple soft-hit balls that fell in, couple hard hits, couple errors. Just a little of it all.”

Burnet lost its second consecutive game. Three contests remain in the regular season.

“We are in a bit of a slump, and the ball isn’t bouncing our way right now,” Bledsoe said. “We have to stay mentally strong and dig into our heart as our team and know we are all here for each other. We support everyone in our family and continue to work, and we will get out of it.”
