Green Beret to talk plant medicine at birding and wildflower society meeting

MARBLE FALLS — A former Army Green Beret will share his knowledge of Hill Country botany and plant uses during the April 3 meeting of the Highland Lakes Birding and Wildflower Society at the Marble Falls Public Library.
The meeting starts with social time at 9:30 a.m. followed by the program at 10 a.m. The library is located at 101 Main St.
Sam Coffman, who served more than 10 years as a medic in the U.S. Army Special Forces, will present “Using the Plants and Wildflowers of the Hill Country.” After his time in the military, Coffman continued to study survival and teach it to both military personnel and civilians. His focus has been on post-disaster and remote medicine almost exclusively using plant medicine.
He is the founder and head instructor of The Human Path, an ecology-based survival program with courses on a variety of topics. The Human Path offers courses in San Antonio and Austin as well as survival intensives in Colorado.
Coffman has worked as a clinical herbalist on his own and in conjunction with functional medicine doctors for chronic as well as acute illnesses and injuries.
