MARBLE FALLS — An upcoming event that puts local ladies on a pedestal will raise thousands of dollars for women trying to rebuild their lives due to drug addiction or domestic violence.

The third annual Girls Night Out, benefitting the Highland Lakes Family Crisis Center and the Open Door Recovery House, is 6-11 p.m. March 1 at Lakeside Pavilion, 307 Buena Vista Drive.

“It is a way for, after the holidays, for women to get out and enjoy other women in a party-fun relaxing atmosphere where your focus is on taking care of yourself,” spokeswoman Barbara Dube said. “At the same time, the proceeds will help women in our community who are in crisis.”

The crisis center for abused women and the recovery house for women overcoming substance abuse provide temporary living quarters, resources, job assistance and legal and family resources to lay the groundwork for a new life.

“We hope women will gather together and participate this year to help other women in our area,” event chairwoman Mandy McCary said.

The event features a pajama party for women 21 years and older, food, drinks, in-house shopping with vendors, a silent auction, entertainment, massages, make-overs, manicures and hair styling.

“We’ve learned that indulgences are what the guests like the most, so we’ve included more of those like the massages,”  Dube said. “It’s so fun to dress up. Everybody dresses in crazy costumes. There are prizes for crazy hair, crazy hats, crazy costumes.”

As participants pay for fun, all money raised funds programs that help women in crisis.

“The community needs to get behind these organizations and support local families,” McCary said. “Sponsoring and participating in Girls Night Out is one of the best ways to show that support.”

Tickets for “the biggest pajama party in the Highland Lakes” are $50 for individuals or $40 each for groups of five.

Sponsorship levels include: Calla Lilly, $5,000; Rose, $3,000; Gardenia, $2,000; Hydrangea, $1,000; Peony, $500; Daisy, $250; and Sweet Pea, $100.
