Mazie Lee Magee Williams passed away Jan. 24, 2014, at the age of 79 in her Burnet, Texas, home. She was born Dec. 18, 1934, in Wisner, La., to Enoch Magee and Annie Bell Linder.
She married George F. Williams in August 1965 and remained married until his death in 1992.
She attended nursing school in Burnet and graduated on Aug. 12, 1978. She worked at Shepperd Memorial Hospital for the next 17 years until she retired. She loved being a nurse and being able to care for people. She had an excellent bedside manner and was very compassionate to her patients.
Mazie enjoyed sports and watching her children participate in various sports while they were in school. She was the first female president of the Hill County Little League in Burnet.
She was a member of the Kingdom Hall congregation in Marble Falls for more than 20 years. She enjoyed her congregation and had many dear friends there.
She is survived by her children Kay Popelka of Temple, Ricky Raven of Ferriday, La., Billy Nelson of Winnsboro, La, Kenneth Dyer of Buchanan Dam, Dan Williams of Burnet and Stacie Burns of Highlands. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins; siblings, E.B. Magee of Brookhaven, Miss., Yvonne Oliveaux of Ferriday, La., and Herschel Magee of West Monroe, La.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George F. Williams; son Thomas Andrew “Andy” Williams; grandson Andrew Williams; sisters Jean Noble and Susan Easterling; and brother Sam Magee.
A memorial service is 3 p.m. Feb. 1 at the Kingdom Hall, 1607 Mormon Mills Road in Marble Falls.
