Icy roads in Burnet, Llano counties lead to slippery commutes

Wintery weather glazed roadways with ice overnight in Burnet and Llano counties Jan. 24, causing a few issues for motorists on their morning commute. The pickup truck on Texas 29 across from the Burnet County Sheriff’s Office slid off the roadway about 9:30 a.m. into a bar ditch and avoided colliding with other vehicles. Burnet Consolidated Independent School District and Faith Academy of Marble Falls canceled classes for the day, while Marble Falls and Llano ISD announced two-hour delays to the start of school to keep school buses, educators and students off slick roadways. Road conditions are expected to improve about noon as temperatures rise and chances decrease for rain mixed with sleet. Staff photo by Marie Ebeling
