Granite Shoals woman crashes into granite marker, suffers minor injuries

A 72-year-old Granite Shoals woman was sent to Seton Highland Lakes with minor injuries after the car she was driving blew a tire and crashed into a granite marker at a roadside park on RR 1431 just west of the city, according to Marble Falls police. The accident happened about 3:40 p.m. Sept. 15 in the 2900 block of RR 1431. The 1979 marker chronicles the history of the use of granite from a nearby quarry used to build the Texas Capitol. The Texas Department of Transportation, who contracts with the City of Marble Falls for maintenance of the roadside park, was notified about the damaged marker, authorities say.
