Douglas Scott Garrett of Washington and formerly of Burnet, Texas, entered this world July 4, 1972, and he left this world Aug. 10, 2013.
He is survived by a loving fiancé, Jaime Fineman; daughter, Sydney Garrett; mother and stepfather, Cherryl and Jack Phillips; father and stepmother, Gary and Carol Garrett; two loving sisters, Amanda Ware and Beth Cravey; stepbrothers, Jeffery Phillips and George Wayne; and stepsister, Sheila Ann. Scott also had five nephews, Wesley, Brynner, J.D., Nick and Chris, and four nieces, Jordan, Jessy, Peyton and Amilee.
He was preceded in death by James Warren Phillips.
Scott graduated in 1991 from Burnet High School, at which he was active in band and was in several one-act plays. He went to Central Texas College in Killeen to study nursing and became a registered nurse. Scott later became a travel nurse, going to California twice, Missouri, Oregon and then Washington State, and also transport overseas. He loved Washington and the Northwest.
A memorial service is 1 p.m. Aug. 13 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, 306 Texas 29 East in Burnet, (512) 756-2222, officiated by Jay Paul Roy, the Hill Country Fellowship Burnet area pastor. Those named as honorary pallbearers are Wesley Shackelford, Brynner Shackelford, Stephen Chambers, Wayne Clendennen, Chris Clendennen, Bryan Garrett, Michael Fineman, Shaun Kremin, Steven Galatro and Thomas Wegner.
